Okay, so a few days ago, we were told that the bank will be merged with Guest Relations on Celebrity Ships. So, what does this mean? We didn't know at the time, we thought, oh crap, now we have to be guest relations, does this mean our salary will go down? What about if there isn't enough jobs? Will we lose our jobs? Finally today we got some answers, and it's all good news!
My feeling initially was, my contract says apprentice purser, and I want that to stay, as you all know how I can be with patience, and guest relations deals with a lot of complaints all day long! I would not have lasted in that position. So what is happening you ask? Well, the word from head office is that all the apprentice pursers will be trained for a few different positions, including Jr Payroll, Payroll, Guest Account Purser, Documenation Officer, and some HR positions. Once we complete the training, we will be assessed and offered positions where they think we are best suited. I'm very excited about this as some of these positions are 2 stripe officers and some of those positions come with a cabin to yourself!!! I'm very excited to learn some different jobs as the one in the bank can be quite boring especially mid cruise when there isn't as much to do.
Anyways, just a quick update for you to let you know what's happening with me. As an FYI for all of you that want to see, I did get a couple of pictures of the new man, and I will get those up soon too!

That shows promise for you Tab, good job! I understand the guest relations thing. Seeing the guests on our cruise complain about dumb things would have driven me to wing-nut status.
